TEGUMI "peu" – fun, approachable alternative to beer!!!
Inspired by the wish to offer an alternative to the familiar phrase, “Let’s start with beer,” we set out to create a wine that is simple, approachable, yet fully satisfying from the very first toast. After two years of experimentation, Tegumi, a lightly sparkling, unfiltered wine made without added antioxidants (sulfites), was born.
Delicate yeast-derived bubbles, gentle cloudiness, and a flavour that is simple yet layered make Tegumi a refreshing and enjoyable wine from the first pour. Its name, meaning “handbound,” reflects the hands-on care of the first vintage, when each bottle was filled by hand.
** Please chill well before opening, as the wine may overflow when opened. **
Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Lightly sparkling with a clear, pale pink and yellow hue. Natural lees may cause gentle cloudiness as you drink—this is normal and reflects minimal intervention. Aromas of fresh Delaware grapes, white peach, apple, and citrus, with subtle herbal notes of mint and chervil. On the palate, a lively, gentle fizz leads to crisp acidity and a refreshing dry finish, balanced by a touch of pleasant bitterness. Light, approachable, and easy to enjoy.
Pairs well with foil-baked salmon and mushrooms, chèvre cheese with apple salad, and marinated turnips. Perfect as a first toast wine or for casual meals, even for those new to wine.

Our Philosophy of Winemaking
Our small winery is nestled in Kyotamba Town, Kyoto Prefecture—a place blessed with beautiful mountains, pure water, and the rich gifts of the land, where people live in harmony with nature. Through our wines, Tamba Wine seeks to share the unique character of Kyotamba’s terroir and the richness of Japanese food culture.
Here, we reflect on what is truly important to preserve for future generations. By nurturing this land and respecting its traditions, we are committed to discovering, protecting, and passing on values that will endure for years to come.
Creating Wines to Pair with Japanese Cuisine
Tamba Wine was founded in 1979 by Tetsuo Kuroi with a clear and passionate vision: to create wines that pair beautifully with Kyoto’s food culture. This philosophy soon gained recognition, and from 1984, our wines were awarded Gold Medals at the Monde Selection for six consecutive years.
Guided by our management principles, we continue to pursue winemaking that reduces environmental impact while embracing constant innovation in both viticulture and vinification. By taking on new challenges and refining our approach, we remain dedicated to crafting wines that complement washoku (Japanese cuisine).
Bringing people closer to happiness through wine—playing even a small role in that journey—is our enduring mission.
