We intentionally avoid emphasising grape varieties or vintage, focusing instead on creating a wine that enhances the meal and allows the food to shine.

Tasting Notes

It pairs beautifully with simply seasoned meat dishes, such as those prepared with salt and pepper, as well as lean fish, allowing the food to shine alongside the wine. This wine is notable for its low tannins and a fruity aroma with a subtle hint of sweetness, which pairs exceptionally well with Japanese cuisine based on dashi, a traditional stock made from bonito and kelp.

It complements a wide range of Japanese dishes, from simmered fish to soups with shiitake mushrooms or venison, as well as lean sashimi such as tuna. Its balanced profile allows it to accompany a meal from start to finish, making it ideal for kaiseki or traditional multi-course Japanese dining.

Our small winery is nestled in Kyotamba Town, Kyoto Prefecture—a place blessed with beautiful mountains, pure water, and the rich gifts of the land, where people live in harmony with nature. Creating Wines to Pair with Japanese Cuisine

Tamba Wine was founded in 1979 by Tetsuo Kuroi with a clear and passionate vision: to create wines that pair beautifully with Kyoto’s food culture. This philosophy soon gained recognition, and from 1984, our wines were awarded Gold Medals at the Monde Selection for six consecutive years.
Guided by our management principles, we continue to pursue winemaking that reduces environmental impact while embracing constant innovation in both viticulture and vinification. By taking on new challenges and refining our approach, we remain dedicated to crafting wines that complement washoku (Japanese cuisine).
