SUZUGAMI is an amazing soft tin plate
carefully hand-hammered. It is only 0.7mm thick.
It is a product which could be conjured up by high skilled metalwork artisans who are able to make “orin”, a Japanese Buddhist standing bell.
Currently there are only less than ten craftsmen who can produce the “orin” in Japan.
The plate can be folded and bent like origami (Japanese folding papercraft) to form any shapes and can be returned to its original shape with a rolling pin even if stretched out.
The largest suzugami of 24 x 24 cm is the perfect size for use as a serving plate to share out food between guests such as salad or soba noodles. It can also be used for a range of other purposes such as for displaying flowers by bending the suzugami up into a vase shape.l dishes. It is also a good size for displaying other non-food objects.

Brand Information
‘Syouryu’ is the proprietary brand of Shimatani Syouryu Koubou, a workshop that has been a specialist manufacturer of orin bowl gongs for Buddhist temples since its establishment in 1909.
There are three orin artisans at this workshop (there are only ten in all of Japan), who create orin gongs by hammering down metal to create a round shaped gong with a nicely tuned sound. Our aim is to continue to make new products using this metal hammering technique.
